Last meeting of the year and the topic is a free choice - any picture taken in the past year. And what an interesting set of pictures was the result!

Alister and his reviewer Morag agreed that this was a lovely picture (Peterhof Palace). Morag commented on its symmetry - even the clouds appeared to be symmetrical about the centre. A balanced image.
Ingrid liked this picture from Ann of the inside of a rose. Beautifully composed.

Anne's choice from her own pictures was this shot taken on a rainy day. The slight graininess of the image adds to the damp effect, while the brightly coloured umbrellas add impact.
Sonia chose this picture because she liked the sharply focused rocks in the foreground taking up the diagonal bottom third, and then the distant landscape in the top third.

Athol chose his own picture of cherry blossom. He described it as painting with light, and liked the highlights in the top left of the picture.
Sonia chose his picture of pebbles in and out of water (although she did also really like the ethereal flowers) In the end she plumped for this elegant shot for its clarity and simplicity.

Anne chose Bob's picture of roofs in Lisbon. She liked the colours and the depth.
Bob himself chose this picture taken in Porto. An unusual shot showing reflected images going off to infinity.

Carina chose her own picture taken in Cornwall, for its view of the sky and the contrast between yellow and blue.
Martin chose this picture for the delicacy of the flowers.
