July 2025 - Open Choice

July's topic was free choice - any pictures you like taken during this year. Interestingly most of Wednesday Group chose to select a set of pictures on a single theme, which made it a really good meeting as of course all the themes were different. Here is a selection of the Wednesday pictures.

Alex's theme was infrared photography. He took his pictures with an infrared camera and edited them to produce some very interesting artistic effects. He was pleased with his Mussel shell sculpture, which he had deliberately made to be high key.

Bob D felt this picture had a nightmare feel. The obelisk stands out sharply from its bright background.

Anne had been to an art exhibition which also had an outside area. She was pleased with the effect of the view through the pink disk.

Alex also admired the pink disk, but liked Anne's action shot, with the squares and repeated shapes.

Bob D chose to show us a selection of more common butterflies taken over the year. He liked this Small Skipper, seen in Bonaly. The hoverfly on the right just completed the picture.

Brian liked the way that the leaves mimic the butterfly wings, and the fact that the picture is so sharp. The butterfly is a female Common Blue.

Bob T had a selection of pictures taken on a trip. He was pleased with this night-time shot with the beautiful reflections.

Martin thought this was like an impressionist painting, with the light and the soft focus.

Brian was pleased with his bright beach view, with the people and dogs.

Sonia also liked that picture and also this one with the juxtaposition of the central figure and the others seated, and the framing greenery.
