A very topical subject for November with many unusual directions taken. This time we spent extra time discussing a selection of our pictures and this is reflected in our choices.

Fiona chose Anne's colourful flower. She thought it was a macro-style shot and commented that it had a very sharp centre.

This was Anne's picture that we discussed. Anne chose it for the autumn colouring of the central figure's clothing and as a people picture that was not posed. We thought the extra people in shot helped rather than hindered the composition.

Ingrid found this picture from Athol to be unusual and liked the red leaves against the neutral background.

This was the shot that we discussed. We all wanted to know how Athol had made this picture with smoke caught in the light through the trees.

Bob thought this a more unusual way of thinking of autumn colour. We commented that the whole picture was in focus.

Mary found the colours in this picture striking. The picture is sharp with a blurred background.

Brian was pleased with this picture taken at Stobo.

Bob chose Brian's picture of Abbotsford Walled Garden, Near Melrose as a sharp and colourful close-up shot.

Martin chose Fiona's golden berries, saying that it had variety with berries in shade and in sun.

Fiona was pleased with this shot.

We all liked this picture from Gillian, taken in Bath.
