Athol was assessed by Sonia who chose this very splashy duck. The water is so clearly caught, both the vigorous splashing and the stream of drips from the duck's beak
Athol liked this water on a window pane, with the water dribbling down and the colours of whatever was outside showing subtly.

Alister chose Irene's image of two ducks, one caught just at the right moment, mid dive. The orange legs form a highlight and the ripples and splashes make an interesting background / frame.
Alister and his assessor Sandra were in agreement on this evening street scene. The way the light is falling is the key feature and the slope of the path leads the eye into the scene.

Athol's choice of this picture from Ruth tells a story. The dog and man appear to be having a conversation and exhibit companionship. A simple composition that doesn't need any embellishment
Ruth's choice was a lock on the Thames, just caught at the right moment as the boat went down. The colours are good, with the bright clothes of the person making a focus in just the right place.

Gillian's own choice was this one of reflections in a puddle - the reflection of the tree in the shallow puddle and the light in the deeper puddle.
